Skill India” is a visionary campaign launched by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi on 15th July 2015 which aims at training over 40 crore people in different skills by 2022. It includes other initiatives such as National Skill Development Mission, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY), Skill Loan Scheme etc.
India adds about 12 million workforces but only 4% of them receives formal training this leads to either rampant unemployment or people working in low wage unsecure jobs who gets clenched in the vicious cycle of poverty, thus schemes like this is the need of the hour. By giving good quality vocational training and making them industry ready will empower our youth to help in building our economy. It will lead to more employment, improvement in our GDP and will also increase per capita income of people enabling them to live a better-quality life.
